Arusha

Our journey begins in the vibrant city of Arusha, the heartbeat of Tanzania and the perfect introduction to this remarkable country. Here, bustling markets, cultural landmarks, and stunning landscapes come together to create an unforgettable start to your adventure.

  • What We’ll See and Do:

    • Central Market: Dive into the vibrant local culture with a visit to Arusha’s bustling market. Stroll through colorful stalls brimming with fresh produce, exotic spices, and handcrafted treasures. It’s the perfect place to pick up unique souvenirs and experience the daily rhythm of Tanzanian life.

    • Cultural Heritage Centre: This remarkable gallery and museum showcases the artistry and history of Tanzania, from traditional crafts to contemporary masterpieces. It’s a must-visit for anyone wanting to deepen their understanding of the country’s rich heritage.

    • Sweeping Views of Mount Meru: Throughout your time in Arusha, you’ll be treated to views of this majestic mountain, a stunning backdrop to the city’s energy.

  • Where We’ll Stay:
Our base in Arusha is the luxurious Kili Villas, a serene hideaway tucked away in the countryside. This exclusive retreat has hosted celebrities like Keanu Reeves and Harrison Ford, and it’s easy to see why. With its stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro, private villas, and a tranquil atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to rest and recover after your long journey. Unwind in style, savor delicious meals, and enjoy the peaceful ambiance before we set off on our safari adventure.

Arusha is more than just a starting point—it’s a gateway to the magic of Tanzania, offering a glimpse of the adventure, beauty, and culture that awaits.

Tarangire National Park

Our journey continues with an unforgettable safari in Tarangire National Park, a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and the perfect place to begin our exploration of Tanzania’s incredible natural landscapes. Known as the “Land of the Elephants,” Tarangire offers breathtaking scenery, unique ecosystems, and unforgettable wildlife encounters.

  • What We’ll See and Do:

    • Elephant Kingdom: Tarangire is home to one of the largest elephant populations in East Africa, with herds numbering up to 300 roaming freely. Watch these gentle giants as they play in the river, care for their young, and move gracefully across the savannah. It’s a magical experience to observe them in their natural habitat.

    • Incredible Wildlife: Beyond elephants, Tarangire is a sanctuary for giraffes, zebras, lions, leopards, and even the elusive cheetah. Keep your eyes peeled for the striking kudu and oryx, as well as over 550 species of birds that call this park home.

    • Scenic Game Drives: Explore the park’s diverse landscapes on expertly guided game drives. From vast golden savannahs dotted with iconic baobab trees to lush river valleys, each drive is an opportunity to witness the raw beauty of Tarangire and spot wildlife in action.

  • Where We’ll Stay:
Our home for two nights is a luxurious tented camp nestled in the heart of the park. This camp offers an intimate and immersive safari experience, blending rustic charm with modern comfort. Imagine falling asleep to the distant roar of a lion or the rustle of nearby elephants under the African sky. Each tent is elegantly designed, featuring en-suite bathrooms, comfortable beds, and private decks that bring you closer to nature without compromising on comfort.

Gather around the campfire in the evening, share stories of the day’s sightings, and savour delicious meals prepared with fresh, local ingredients.

Our next stop takes us to the Rhotia Valley, a special destination where travel meets purpose. Nestled in the hills near Karatu, this region offers not only incredible access to cultural and wildlife experiences but also the chance to make a meaningful impact.

  • Where We’ll Stay:
Our accommodations in Rhotia Valley are more than just a place to rest—they are part of a heartwarming story of hope and support. The lodge fully supports the Rhotia Valley Children’s Home, an orphanage providing a safe, nurturing environment for 40 children. Every dollar spent here goes directly to sustaining this initiative, ensuring the children receive education, healthcare, and the opportunity to thrive.

Staying here, you’ll see firsthand how your visit contributes to the community. Guests often describe their stay as one of the most meaningful parts of their trip, knowing their travel dollars are making a real difference.

  • What We’ll See and Do:

    • Meet the Community: Learn about the incredible work being done at the orphanage and, if time allows, meet some of the children and staff who make this place so special. It's a humbling and inspiring experience to witness how travel can empower lives.

    • Explore Karatu: This vibrant farming town serves as a cultural hub, with bustling markets and scenic views of the surrounding countryside.

    • Visit the Hadzabe Tribe: One of the last remaining hunter-gatherer groups in Africa, the Hadzabe welcome us into their world. Learn about their ancient traditions, from fire-making to hunting, and gain insight into a way of life that has remained unchanged for generations.

After enriching cultural experiences, we’ll prepare for a true wildlife spectacle: the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most biodiverse places on the planet.

Staying at Rhotia Valley is a unique opportunity to combine luxury, culture, and social responsibility, knowing your journey leaves a lasting positive impact on the local community. It’s a stay that feels as good as it looks—rich in meaning and surrounded by the natural beauty of Tanzania.

I recently took TV personality Tracy Moore and her teenage family on this adventure, and they fell in love with it too.

From the elephants of Tarangire to the magic of Zanzibar, every moment was unforgettable.

Tanzania’s warm people, awe-inspiring landscapes, and untamed beauty make it a place I’ll always dream of returning to.
