Safe Travel and avoiding invisible viruses when travelling
Caution is always advisable when you travel. Even for the most laid back people I always recommend a clean up of your space on a plane.
It takes just a couple of minutes of your time and could mean you avoiding contact with all manner of invisible germs lurking in front of you.
Here are my tips to clean up your personal space when travelling.
Buy a small pack of disinfectant wipes and keep them handy in your carry on luggage.
Carry a small travel size of hand sanitizer in your purse or with a keyring attachment which gives you easy access. make sure it is under 100ml so it is allowed past security.
Always the most important thing in any situation is to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and regularly.
When you get onto the plane you should wipe down both sides of the tray table including the little mechanism that locks it in place.
Next let’s focus on the seatbelt it’s another place that people touch every time they sit down however it is not something that gets cleaned regularly between flights. So I suggest cleaning the seat buckle both sides.
Clean the TV screen even if it isn’t touch screen.
Clean the window and the window shade.
Clean the the seat pocket in front of you inside and out if you can, in fact avoid using it all together if you can as you have no idea what other passengers have put in there from dirty diapers to vomit in bags.
Clean the controls on the armrests, and the armrests themselves too.
Avoid the magazines if you can. If you do read the menu or the on board magazine just use your hand sanitizer after.
While you travel through airports you will be touching all kinds of surfaces that may also harbour germs such as the check in screens, the elevator buttons etc. So wash your hands, use the sanitizer and and don’t touch your face.
These steps are just small ways to really make sure you avoid not just the coronavirus but also norovirus and other flu strains or viruses lurking unseen right in front of you. I’m not saying that airlines don’t take precautions, they do but between commuter flights and even most international flights airlines don’t have time to do a deep clean so taking a few moments will certainly go a long way to protect yourself.
Travel safe and don’t cancel your travel plans.
The numbers may seem large but when you compare them to the population figures they are very small.
You have a far higher chance of getting hit by lightening than dying of Corona virus.
Please stay safe but still Enjoy your travel adventures!
